What’s up party people. Thought I would just check in on a few different topics across the NFL to start.

Tom Brady. Congrats to Tom on being the first and only player to cross 100K Passing Yards! Maybe he can remember how to get past 20 fantasy points again. He now has 5 consecutive weeks below 20 Fantasy Points and let me tell you, I feel it with Chris Godwin basically averaging 0.934 yards per catch. The Bucs are basically a shell of themselves this year and they just cannot get it figured out. You saw how Brady basically still has the magic with his under 1 minute game winning drive against the Rams, but you just have to wonder if this is the new normal. Part of me feels like there is an offensive explosion in the Bucs somewhere, but the cold reality starts to be setting in that Father Time has caught up to Tommy. I mean he is even jealous of Geno Smith now (check out this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights below!)

ree

Another big milestone in Week 9 was Tyreek Hill passing 1,000 receiving yards for the season. At the halfway point Tyreek is now on pace for the first ever 2000 receiving yard season and man he has to be one of the most undervalued players in Fantasy right now. I mean who saw this coming? The guy is basically unstoppable and has turned Tua into a top 5 QB (wow). The Dolphins are probably the most consistent offense with Tua in the NFL right now (I mean even the Chiefs and Bills are having offnights) and I think Tyreek is one of the biggest stories in the NFL this season.

ree

Poll time. Which celebration did you like better?

ree

Which Celebration Was Better?

  • Bengals

  • Vikings

And seriously what sarcastic AHole voted for “The Name That Shall Not Be Named” in last week’s poll? For shame.

A big storyline this week is the potential injury to Josh Allen. It apparently isn’t a long term issue, but he hasn’t practice all week and Josh Allen not playing has a massive impact on multiple fantasy teams, none more than Billy. Will he practice today and how will this impact him?

ree

In Tar Heel related news how about Jeff Saturday becoming the interim head coach of the Colts. He went from our part time radio booth guest to the head coach of an NFL team. And he has never even been a coach before! It’s wild.

ree

This is essentially the same thing as when KRABS became the head coach of a Fantasy Roster so there is precedent.

And speaking of the Heels man how about Drake Maye. He is unreal. I don’t want to get ahead of myself (and the defense still scares me) but having Drake Maye just feels like we actually have a chance in every game. His ability to read the progressions and make the right decision is unreal. Check out this article if you haven’t already.

Live footage of Brent Cozart after watching Donta Foreman go off on his bench.

ree

Bet you can’t guess which week Brent started him?

ree

And finally thought this was an interesting nugget on how close games have been this season.

ree

Before we get to the awards lets check this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights:

Manager of the Weak

ree

In Week 9 your Jose’s Taco Truck Blowout of the week was Umphlett laying the smacketh down on KRABS in a 43 point shellacking. And while Justin looks really confused, lets not be confused about this at all. It may have been delayed, it may have been in the shadows, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t always there. KRABS, let’s face it you got clipped by this guy:

ree

You wanted to resist it. You wanted to fight it. But how you have traded off your players and find yourself in last place. It is time to accept reality KRABS.

Honestly at this point just start Aaron Rodgers. It would be on brand (even though Weezy is no longer a fan)

ree

P.S. WHOA NELLY YOU BETTER WATCH OUT BRENT WOODCOX!

Move of the Week

ree

OK, be honest. Who is scared? Are you scared yet? Do you remember 2010? I do.

Hint: Check out the 2nd name on the list below for a reminder.

ree

So yeah I am a little encouraged about Justin Fields play the last few weeks. I mean I was obviously extremely high on Fields after drafting him last year but well Matt Nagy didn’t exactly have it figured out. But ever since that Thursday night game against the Redskins the Bears have figured something out with Fields. Over the last 4 weeks Fields is the #1 QB by average points with 30 Fantasy Points. Burrow is #2 with 28, Mahomes is #3 with 27, and Hurts is #4 with 25 (tied with Tua). So macro point is that I think we are on to something here. Who is ready for a little Winter Magic from The Commish?!?!?!?

ree

P.S. Does anyone remember when Justin Fields was drafted by KRABS and then dropped because Jeff Wilson told him to do it? I am not sure who wants Justin Fields to stop running more, Mike McDaniel or KRABS.

MVP Justin Fields, Joe Mixon, Ken Walker, Davante Adams, Tua

ree

Well anytime you score 50 points I guess that makes you a shoe in for the MVP. I mean whoa where did this come from?

ree

I mean wow. Check out this stat line. Mixon had 22 carries for 154 rushing yards and FOUR rushing touchdowns. AND he had 4 catches for 58 yards and ANOTHER touchdown. 5 touchdowns.

I mean check out where this stands among some of the greatest single game Fantasy Performances.

ree

The point totals are slightly different on this website vs. our league, but its close enough to get the idea.

It’s still crazy Clinton Portis had 254 Rushing Yards and 5 Touchdowns in one game. Nuts.

Congrats to Joe for stepping up big time and winning the Week 9 MVP!

Manager of the Week

ree

Don’t look now but Jerry’s Belt Buckle has moved into first place on his lead leading 956 points. With 3 consecutive wins he is the hottest team in the league fueled by the stardom of Lamar Jackson, the breakout of Ken Walker and the Quarterback *cough* Tight End *cough* play of Taysom Hill? Well may not so much his loop hole *Tight End* but either way his team is scoring a lot of points. And the crazy thing is that the players he expected to be good haven’t really been good. Deebo Samuel has been OK, but not exactly what he was last year. His first round draft pick Najee Harris has been well awful and could get benched this weekend. And his prized keeper, Jordan Mason, has ONE carry all year (probably the most surprising result of the three). So this hasn’t been all peaches and cream this year for Umphlett, but he still is winning. And is there anything more Umphlett than rotating defenses? This guy currently has THREE defenses on his roster and continues to pull the right string at the right time (New England Defense dropped 26 in Week 9). Is it 2018 again? I don’t know, but there is a reason that Umphlett keeps staring at that Marshawn Lynch poster in his room.

Congrats to Umphlett for winning the Week 9 Manager of the Week!

Until Week 10…

-The Commish
