I hope everyone had a wonderfully spooky Halloween. I know that despite getting smacked in Fantasy Football Billy certainly enjoyed Halloween (can someone please explain to me what this costume is?)

ree

And here is another great costume. I am not sure who did it better Macaulay or Billy.

Although this is my personal favorite costume:

So Fantasy Football can definitely be a spooky. And I am not sure there is anything spookier in Fantasy Football right now than Anthony Richardson. This guy was benched long ago by Cozart, but now he has been benched by the Colts.

Let's talk a bit about how bad Anthony Richardson has been this season.

He has been bad. Like this bad:

Man, who saw two Macaulay Culkin references in this Week's Notes? I didn't.

So while Anthony Richardson has been bad, another population that has been bad has been owners playing against Umphlett in Fantasy Football. If you recall in last week's Notes, our poll topic was average points scored against Jerry's Belt Buckle. At the end of Week 7 it was 67.1 and the Poll was where would it end the year. The majority of you voted that it would finish the year Under 75 where I personally voted it would end Over 80. In classic fashion, Week 8 saw Umphlett's second opponent break the 100 point barrier and he is now 0-2 when his opponent scores over 100 points. The average is up to 72.25 so we will see how the rest of the season goes.

Another big storyline from Week 8 was the fact that Sunday was National Tight Ends Day. And boy did they celebrate. It is no secret that Tight End production in Fantasy Football was scarce, but they really stepped up in Week 8:

The greatest #NationalTightEndsDay ever?

As we basically are at the halfway point of the season, I got a good laugh out of this video because well I am sure a couple of you can relate to it:

I know its been rough at times guys. But The Commish is here to give you a little bit of a pep talk. Each of you needs to believe in yourself. You can do it. In fact I want you to believe in yourself as much as this guy believes in himself:

Quick reminder that the Trade Deadline is Saturday November 16th. Here is live footage of managers listening to The Institute's current Trade Offers:

Before we get to this week’s awards, check out this week’s "Halloween Themed" episode of Gridiron Heights.

Episode 9:

Manager of the Weak

Let's go back to the well. I mean he didn't win it last week, but I mean it only feels right that Dirty Mike should win Manager of the Weak again right? And while there are so many things that we could point out here to show why Cozart should win Manager of the Weak, for example:

  • He benched Jayden Daniels who is currently the 5th highest scoring QB in Fantasy, a frontrunner for MVP, and the hottest story in the league. For Tua. And of course Daniels went out there and did this:

And speaking of this play did you notice this angle where the Bears DB was literally talking trash to the fans while the play was happening? I mean this was so poetic.

  • He benched DeVonta Smith (who I thought was like one of his favorite players) for Tank Bigsby and well that didn't work. Bigsby got hurt and only scored 7 points. Smith had 14.

  • If he had started Daniels and Smith he would have won. Alas he lost. By 10.

So plenty of reasons to pick Cozart yet again. But he told me the season has been so bad this year that he can't even bring himself to read the Notes. NOT EVEN READ THE NOTES? That is true desperation. So I figured that would bring us to this week's poll topic: Can Fantasy Football get so depressing that you can't even bring yourself to read the #1 Column In Fantasy Football? Cause that is pretty bad.

Can Fantasy Football get so depressing that you can't even bring yourself to read the #1 Column In Fantasy Football?

  • Yes

  • NEVER!

After all that, with plenty of evidence that Dirty Mike deserved to win Manager of the Weak, I am going to throw a curve ball. Mainly because I am tired of giving it to him.

Your Week 8 Manager of the Weak is VZ for not setting his lineup on time. What a Moron.

Move of the Week

ree

Nothing really stuck out to me for Week 8. So I thought I would take this opportunity to share the absolute gems of an interview with Jameis before and after his big Week 8 upset victory over the Ravens.

Pre Game

Post Game

MVP

ree

CeeDeeLamb, Chris Olave, Travis Kelce, Jalen Hurts, James Cook

Some great performances this week and before we get to this week's winner, want to touch on two frustrating players that may be getting ready to start a streak of production:

  • Chris Olave has 3 games where he has scored 1 or less points, one game where he missed and only two games in double digit scoring. 2024 has been rough. But in Week 8 he started to show signs of life and now Derek Carr is back. Without Shaheed in the lineup could we be about to see Olave explode? Is he officially off the Milk Carton?

  • Travis Kelce may be the talk of The View, but he hasn't really been the talk of Fantasy Football. 2024 has been the lowest scoring year in a long time for Kelce. But in Week 8 he came alive with 12 targets, 10 receptions, and 15 Fantasy Points, almost double his second highest scoring week. Has Kelce returned from the Dead Poet's Society to the land of the living?

But enough of people who have stunk most of the year. Jalen Hurts really broke out in Week 8 with 34 Fantasy Points and the Tush Push was back baby! Hurts had his highest scoring week of the Season and 3 Rushing Touchdowns so it was a huge development for Overbay and the icon. Congrats to Jalen Hurts for winning the Week 8 MVP! Things turn around quickly from Manager of the Weak to MVP in 7 days!

Manager Of The Week

You guys better watch out. The only thing that has more momentum then The Commish right now is this lady.

Until Week 9…

P.S. Here is this Week's AI Image of the Week! The guys shirt has 1 button. Scary!
