Well Week 8 was an anomaly when it comes to scoring because there were some wild games. For context last year NFL teams scored a league record 24.8 points per game. Through the first 7 weeks of the season that average was 21.7. The average in week 8 was 23.3.
The Dolphins and Lions combined for 58 points (52 over/under)
The Falcons and Panthers combined for 71 points (41 over/under)
The Cardinals and Vikings combined for 60 points (48.5 over/under)
The Bears and Cowboys combined for 78(!) points (42.5 over under)
I mean heck you had position players throwing passes like crazy in Week 8 with both Chase Claypool and Christian McCaffery throwing for a touchdown.

One thing that is constant is that no matter what I try it doesn’t work. Maybe I should study more.

This doesn’t really have anything to do with Fantasy Football but I thought it was pretty funny so I thought I would share.
Let’s move to discuss Quarterbacks. Check out this interesting usage list from Week 8. Some big Quarterback names on there. Yes this is sarcasm.

And to move to something real for you Umphlett (that really strikes close to home for me) why don’t you check out this lovely graphic:

In other news, how about trades becoming a thing in the NFL. Remember when they never use to happen? It’s becoming baseball and the deadline day is actually interesting. There were 12 trades this year. Which one do you think has the biggest fantasy impact?

Which Trade Do You Think Will Have The Most Fantasy Impact?
Claypool
Hockenson
Ridley

Before we get to the awards lets check this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights:
Amen to this one, especially at 0:49
Manager of the Weak

This is basically how I feel right now. Yes this is Jonathan Taylor Thomas, but his emotions seemed to fit better so I just went with it. It’s been a hard year, cut me some slack.
Move of the Week You guys are boring. I didn’t really see anything that merited a Move of the Week.
So I will share this classic:
MVP Joe Burrow, Amari Cooper, Derrick Henry, Stefon Diggs, Jalen Hurts

Some huge performances this year, but gotta give the MVP to the guy that shined the brightest on Monday night and that was Amari Cooper. Billy came in down 15 with two players (Cooper and Hurst) projected to score 14 points and lets be honest those two are not exactly fantasy powerhouses. While Hurst was pedestrian, Cooper had his biggest game of the year with 133 receiving yards and a touchdown. He also somehow managed to through an interception which is hilarious, but still it was plenty of points to seal a come from behind Monday Night victory over The Institute which moves showmedamoney! into sole position of first place. With AJ Brown looking like Randy Moss (see below) and Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things who exactly plans on stopping this roster? I mean he faces me this week so lets go ahead and assume that Devin Singletary is going to catch three touchdown passes.

Congrats to Amari for winning the Week 8 MVP!
Manager of the Week

What do the following numbers have in common?
60, 78, 97, 88, 65, 75, 70, 157
No this is not a Lost piece of trivia.
These are the weekly scores of the Kayak Pirates.
Week 8 is when the Kayak Pirates played against me The Gold Standard, Generalissimo, The Commish.
The Kayak Pirates scored 157 points (which is the highest point total this year and the 4th!!!! Highest in league history.
Which means that I am once again on the losing end of the Jose’s Taco Truck Blowout of the Week.
So what exactly are the Kayak Pirates? Can they keep this up? Honestly this season is weird so I have no freaking idea, but Aaron you better watch out because Jeff and Jacob are coming to blow up your house. The big guy is good.

Congrats to the Kayak Pirates for winning the Week 8 Manager of the Week!
Until Week 9…
