I mean what other way should we start this week's Notes then reviewing the Polls from last week. In a shocking upset you voted for "Wait, this means I won ANOTHER tie" with 5 votes as what KRABS was saying. I thought for sure it was "THEY'RE EATING THE DOGS" but that only got 4 votes. Shocking.

In the other poll there was a near unanimous opinion with 7 votes that Brent was thinking "I am going to get Manager of the Weak again aren't I"? Well he was right. He did get it again. But spoiler alert, he isn't going to get it for a 4th straight week in Week 5.

This is going to be the embrace the next time KRABS shows up at Dirty Mike's house.

Well after 5 weeks we have two teams at 4-1 (Kayak Pirates and Jerry's Belt Buckle), 6 teams within 1 game of each other, and two teams at 1-4 (The Brenti).

What is the headline? We are running out of time:

Now even though the Brenti may find their odds bleak, I am not sure if those statistics really apply for teams with potential MVP candidates that are rookies. In a huge Week 6 showdown, can Daniels outduel Jackson to truly arrive on the MVP scene?

In other news around the league, I made Nico Collins the poster image for this website in Week 5. And well this happened. Whoops.

And I know what everyone is so excited to watch this weekend. QB1 time has arrived.

In fact lets get a poll going on Drake Maye. Where do you think he will rank in total QB fantasy points at the end of the year?

Where will Drake Maye Rank in Total QB Fantasy Points this season?

  • Top 10

  • Top 15

  • Top 20

  • Top 25

Before we get to this week’s awards, check out this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights.

Episode 6:

Speaking of XMen, who remembers this Arcade game? I used to dominate this at Bowling Alley Birthday Parties.

Manager of the Weak

Well as Wicks scored two touchdowns in Week 4 I was starting to regret dropping him for Cole Kmet. Seems like a stupid move. And then when Brent Woodcox picked up Wicks off the waiver wire to immediately start him against me, well it seemed like irony was going to really strike. But it did in an unexpected way. Wicks stunk and dropped multiple balls only scoring 2 Fantasy Points. And somehow infected Chris Olave to only score 1 Fantasy Point on Monday Night Football when all he needed was 2 Points to force a tie and win. Week 5 just didn't work out for Brent and it was a brutal loss. He needs Bijan Robinson to break out and break out fast.

Move of the Week

Umphlett decided to bench Patrick Mahomes in Week 5. This alone feels like a headline. But wait. There is more. He decided to bench Mahomes for Deshuan Watson. The Deshaun Watson who hasn't scored more than 18 Fantasy Points all year. The Deshaun Watson who is currently tied with Bo Nix for total Fantasy Points this season. The Deshaun Watson who only has 6 less Fantasy Points than Patrick Mahomes (wait this doesn't support my argument). The Deshaun Watson who is so awful he needs to be arrested for being awful.

Anyway my point is that Umphlett benched Patrick Mahomes. For Deshaun Watson, initially.

But then Umphlett decided to change his mind and bench Patrick Mahomes for JOE FLACCO. JOE FLACCO PEOPLE. What nutzo world are we living in right now.

And of course what happened? Flacco throws for 3 Touchdowns and 359 passing yards. Heck he even had 22 rushing yards and hit a top speed of 18.76 MPH.

The end result? Joe Flacco scored 29 Fantasy Points. 29. Mahomes score 11 Fantasy Points in Week 5. Deshaun Watson score 9 Fantasy Points. Combined they scored 20 Fantasy Points. Joe Flacco scored 45% more Fantasy Points than Mahomes and Watson combined in Week 5. I am speechless.

And how did Umphlett reward Joe Flacco? He cut him. And then you know what he did? HE CUT PATRICK MAHOMES! Hey Patrick, let's describe your current stock in Fantasy Football?

And now Patrick Mahomes is back on The Institute. For $42 Cookies (interesting that it was $1 more than my total collection of cookies). To be a backup to Lamar Jackson?

Someone please make it make sense.

MVP

Pat Freiermuth, Jamaar Chase, Garrett Wilson, Rashid Shaheed, Tee Higgins

Scoring double digit Fantasy Points to secure a victory against KRABS? Yes please.

Congrats to your Week 5 MVP Rashid Shaheed!

Manager Of The Week

ree

This is the Way was a preseason favorite with the selection of Christian McCaffery and keeping JaMaar Chase. But then well McCaffery got hurt. And Chase was no where to be seen the first two weeks. And it didn't matter, Aaron still won. Then Chase emerged and what happened? Aaron lost the next two weeks. But Chase was not to be denied and for the first week Evans and Chase had a great game and well it led to 126 points and a huge week 5 victory. But the story of this team is still 1) When will McCaffery come back and 2) How good is Brian Thomas?

Brandon Aiyuk has not reached expectations, but it doesn't really matter if Brian Thomas keeps doing that.

Congrats to Aaron and This is the Way for winning the Week 5 Manager of the Week!

Until Week 6...

P.S. Here is this week's AI Image of the Week

Input: UNC Football vs. FSU Football. Let's just say I can't make up my mind what is more bizarre here. The fact that the FSU player is swinging a helmet or that he has an arm coming out of his hip.
