Sigh.
Live footage of Overbay this past Monday morning.
Congrats to Overbay for officially clinching a Playoff spot. This is Overbay’s first playoffs appearance since 2017 so yeah its been a while. Fun fact, Overbay beat The Commish in the Semi Finals 100-82 and guess who was my QB in that matchup. Russell Wilson. Yuck. No wonder I lost.
In case you were wondering, Overbay turned around and lost to Aaron in one of the most thrilling finals in league history. Jake Elliott, Aaron’s kicker, hit a 48 yard FG with 22 seconds left on Christmas Day Monday Night football go give Aaron a 3 point win. That is literally the definition of heartbreak.
So in other random news, this dude is back. And something about this is just amazing. It doesn’t look like it should work at all, but somehow it is working. Sort of. Very Institute-esque.
Speaking of things related to The Institute, it made me think of this play this past weekend:
I am assuming that Umphlett can relate to this extremely closely. In fact this is how he may feel right now.
And I am sure that Umphlett isn’t the only manager that can relate to this stat in the 2022 season:

Since we are just roasting Umphlett, Let’s do a quick Taysom Hill update.
Week 6: 3
Week 7: 7
Week 8: 7
Week 9: 0
Week 10: 0
Week 11: 5
Week 12: 1
Week 13: 10
Week 14: BYE
Total: 33
So I completely missed that Taysom Hill had a Bye in Week 14.
Taysom Hill needs 2 points to win the bet and has 1 game left vs. Atlanta. I mean this has actually become rather interesting. Hill has scored over 1 point 8 times out of his 13 games so there is a 38% chance I win this. Which honestly I thought it was sort of a stupid bet considering the number of weeks and points, but I am going to get quite the joy if Taysom Hill lays an egg on Sunday.
Before we get to the awards let’s check this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights:
Manager of the Weak

That’s right big guy, let it all out. Let all the emotions flow.
I am pretty sure this is against the NFL rules there Zac. How do we let these criminals get away with this stuff? I mean just totally unacceptable. Gong show.
Move of the Week

We have talked at length about how defense is typically a great target to stream and another manager did it again picking up the Chiefs a week ahead for a road date against Russell Wilson and the awful Broncos. VZ got enough experience with Russell Wilson to see how bad he was to realize that “hey maybe I should start a defense against them.” The Chiefs had 6 sacks, 2 interceptions and a touchdown for 15 points and were a critical part of their huge week 14 victory.
MVP Miles Sanders, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, New England Defense

Which one of these things doesn’t belong, Jeff really screwed up the theme here. But what the heck, lets talk about another defense. This season has been rough for Jeff this year (but hey he made a trade!) but in Week 14 he was able to get a huge performance from the Patriots defense to beat KRABS and send him officially to last place. I mean hey you will always have that going for you right? Congrats to Jeff and the Patriots defense for winning the Week 14 MVP.
Manager of the Week

I mean Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard are in the conversation, but has there been a bigger value this season other than Miles Sanders? He is now the 8th highest scoring RB in the league and has been a critical part of this late season surge by The Institute. The one thing that you can say about him is he is kind of hot and cold. He has 3 games of exactly 27 points now (strange) but he also has 4 games of 5 or less points. It’s almost like the Eagles are like “we don’t need to even bother with running” in certain games because they are just picking how they want to score 30+ points. When you add this production to the firepower of Davante Adams, CeeDee Lamb and the new comer Christian McCaffery, people we really need to make sure we are focusing here because there is an actual risk we may all fail with the only single goal we have in this freaking league.
Until Week 15…
P.S. I am serious about this Jeff Wilson Jr. thing. It’s real.
