GOOOOOODDDDDD MORNING LEAGUE MEMBERS!

Who is ready for a fired up Week 14? I have a feeling that after what we saw in Week 13 we are going to see some fireworks today (and maybe tomorrow)!

It’s pretty nuts to say but there are literally 8 teams that have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs and with the overall parity we have seen I mean I could see any of these 8 teams winning. The headline of the league continues to be the ridiculous unexplainable 6 game winning streak of KRABS, but there are still many other story lines for the people that are sick of hearing about KRABS.

Like for example lets take a look at your team currently in 7 place. Don’t call it a comeback but Brent and his beaten, battered, and highly talented black is for sunday squad finds themselves only 1 game out of a playoff spot after a HUGE Week 13 victory against Umphlett. He did it in Week 13 without Lamar Jackson or a TE so I don’t know about you but that feels like an award winning performance (hint hint). Brent has a long and storied history of heartbreak and frustration. It only be poetic that the breakthrough comes through in a year where it looked like he had no shot. Only to come back and steal victory from the jaws of defeat!

Or how about the story of VZ thinking he is the BMOC with his witty texts. If he isn’t sending screenshots of the league standings, he is sending pictures of his family either wearing clothing draped in propaganda or having his young children threaten physical assault to pillars of the local community. I know that many people may have different opinions on the motivations for such odd behavior, but I present only the facts (as I have always done) and let you the reader come to your own conclusion. At 9-4 The Institute has the best record in the league, but he has to be left wondering about the status of Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has not been great for fantasy this year. He has scored over 21 points only once since Week 3. Brock Purdy, CJ Stroud, Sam Howell, and Jordan Love have all outscored him. Will he regress to his historical mean or will the weapons in Kansas City continue to drop Mahomes ability to score fantasy points?

Or how about the story of Umphlett who has now lost 3 straight games and Justin Herbert just seems lost. After two huge games in Week 10 & 11, he has struggled mightly against strong defenses scoring 13 and 7 Fantasy Points. CeeDee and Deebo have been All World but with the well documented struggles of Patrick Mahomes, Kelce has been mortal (he is still the #1 TE scorer but there are three other TEs within 6 points of him and is possible that he could be passed). He hasn’t scored in double digits since Week 7. The running backs continue to be a massive weakness between inconsistency and injury. He still is in the thick of it and is actually in 4th place, but he can’t sustain another loss. Can he turn it around in Week 14?

But quite possibly, the most interesting non KRABS story in the league right now IMO, is Billy and his QB situation. Billy has the #1 AND #3 QB on his roster. And over the last four weeks Dak Prescott has been the number one player in fantasy scoring 131 points (27 more than 2nd place Brock Purdy). Yet do you know how many times Dak Prescott has started for Billy all year? Once, last week in Week 13. Now I am sure you are like “that doesn’t make sense”. But it does. Maybe. Because Billy also has Josh Allen. Josh Allen who is the #1 scoring player in Fantasy. In Week 13 he was on bye. And what happens coming out of the bye? Billy is apparently going to start Dak Prescott over Josh Allen. Wow people. So I have two conclusions here:

  1. Billy should have traded one of these players a long time ago.

  2. Dak Prescott is playing the Eagles which seems to be a fantasy points bonanza, but here’s to Dak putting a picture of Billy on the bottom of his sample collection container this week for not starting him all year. Come on Dak. You know you want to do it!

P.S. Who seriously has issues with old timey prospectors!

Before we get to the awards let’s check this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights:

Manager of the Weak

Overbay didn’t start Achane. All this guy does is score touchdowns. He has played in 6 games. One of them was week 3 where he wasn’t really in the game plan yet. 1 of them was when he was injured in Week 11. For the other four he has scored in every game and scored at least 2 touchdowns in 75% of the games. The guy is super fragile, but boy does he score touchdowns. But they only count if they are in the starting lineup. Achane is getting the start in Week 14 over Austin Ekler. It’s a bold strategy Cotton.

Move of the Week

Not that the Kayak Pirates needed anymore Fantasy Points, but the rich got richer by Jeff and Jacob picking up the ATL defense against the hapless NY Jets. The Falcons aren’t exactly the steel curtain, but had 4 sacks, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries and only gave up 6 points which was good for a cool 17 Fantasy Points. Congrats to Jeff and Jacob for winning the Week 13 Move of the Week!

MVP

DK Metcalf, Brock Purdy, Tyreek Hill, Dak Prescott, Nico Collins

DK Metcalf, 31 Fantasy Points, 8 Targets, 6 Receptions, 134 Receiving Yards, 3 Receiving Touchdowns

He has won 6 straight matchups.  I guess I have to say something about the guy. DK Metcalf called game on Thursday night. He basically won his matchup before the games even really got started. And it was hilarious how the Cowboys just kept getting penalties over and over and over giving the Seahawks more and more chances and every one of them seemed to go to Metcalf. And how did Metcalf respond? In Sign Language.

IS THAT black is for sunday’s MUSIC?!?!?! (said in a Jim Ross voice)

I figured this would be the best way to describe Brent’s momentum right now. Hey KRABS, you better watch your back. HYPE TRAIN COMING!

Until Week 14…
