Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful time with Family yesterday. The Commish crew is currently at Great Wolf Lodge, otherwise known as “Redneck Disney”. Beware of the Magic Quest. It’s really just an excuse to get you to walk up and down stairs way too many times.

How about Billy going to the big Thanksgiving day game in Detroit! And apparently he is going to Ohio St vs. Michigan too. Epic sports weekend. He even got to see David Montgomery score a touchdown in person. Too bad he didn’t go to the Dallas game, he could have seen Dak Prescott score 4 touchdowns. On his bench (more on that below).

And while we are on Thanksgiving and Detroit how about this tweet for sports research. I guess we need to start tracking the phase of the moon.

Before we move on from Thanksgiving, I just had to share this Tweet for the win. That is a HOF community note.

And as we all know what comes after Thanksgiving? No not Christmas, BLACK FRIDAY! I hope that each of you are enjoying some amazing deals on Amazon today:

And don’t forget to check out today’s Jets & Dolphins first ever Black Friday NFL game exclusively on Amazon Prime. Stream for free, no Prime Membership required (although if you don’t have a Prime Membership, seriously what is wrong with you)?

So who is as hot as Amazon Prime right now? I think we have to say KRABS. Somehow this team has won 4 in a row. Unbelievable. And he is looking to make it 5 in a row with a crucial Rivalry Week matchup against Dirty Mike. Something just doesn’t seem sustainable here, but CJ Stroud continues to just be the talk of the NFL.

The KayakPirates are hot too with three consecutive wins even though their prized trade pickup didn’t do anything on Monday night. No literally, he did nothing. He had zero points. But when you have 5 players score in double digits you can handle that type of variability. Allen and Hill continue to be absolute super stars leading this team.

In other news, did anyone check out Tom Brady’s comments this week? I am sure he wasn’t referring to The Institute at all…

Before we get to the awards let’s check this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights:

Manager of the Weak

So Billy did nothing during the trade deadline. And decided the best course of action was to keep two top 5 QBs on his team. And start the worse of the two. Billy has lost 5 straight games right now and while he is able to succeed going on some epic sports weekends, he apparently is still reeling from the 2022 Championship Game because this roster is going downhill. Fast.

Move of the Week

Anytime you can make a trade, pickup keepers, and somehow still win in the first week after the trade you are doing something write. Picking up the Denver defense that scored 9 points when you win by 8 is the sign of a sly Fantasy Manager. Especially when Denver has been trampled by multiple offenses this year (but don’t look now, the Broncos are on a winning streak).

MVP

Calvin Ridley, Brandon Aiyuk, Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud, Tyreek Hill

Calvin Ridley – 23 Fantasy Points, 7 Receptions, 9 Targets, 103 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns, 1 Carry, 18 Rushing Yards.

Calvin Ridley has been a disappointment in 2023. Honestly the entire Jaguars offense has outside of Etienne. But Ridley was on FIRE in Week 11 and had an absolutely massive performance in Week 11. It is possible that Overbay would have had a catastrophic loss in Week 11 to Aaron if Ridley wouldn’t have stepped up. There were some very interesting changes to the route tree and strategy for where Ridley was lined up in Week 11.

Next Gen Stats lays it out for us. While we were happy in Week 5 (with Zay on the field), the game plan for Ridley was “please win for us.” He played from the slot on 8.6% of his snaps and worked out of bunched/stacked formations on 11 of his 70 plays. Luckily, that changed against the Titans.

Slot Rate: 13.6% (Weeks 1-10), 25.5% (Week 11)

Stacked/Bunched Set Rate: 22.5%, 43.6%

Taylor deployed his WR1…like a WR1. His 25.5% slot rate was a season-high, with his closest being 18.4% the week prior.

Overbay can only hope that this continues.

Manager Of The Week

Move of the Week AND Manager of the Week? In the same week? What is happening? But Dirty Mike definitely is feeling it after his moves and huge victory in Week 11. Whether it can keep up is a different story but he is just enjoying the success right now. Because I am sure he isn’t enjoying the success of Jordan Travis getting injured.

Until Week 12… (RIVALRY WEEK)!
