Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope every one of you are having a wonderful day with family and friends and celebrating the greatness of America and the greatness of The Commish. I know I am very thankful for many many things. In fact I thought I would spend some time right now listing all the things I am thankful for.

  • I am thankful for Mrs. Commish, the EVC, the SVC, and the CVC. They are all critical members of our franchise and our brand wouldn't be internationally known if it wasn't for their tireless work and support.

  • I am thankful that we are all NOT KRABS.

  • I am thankful for Jorge Soler and his majestic moon shot home runs.

  • I am thankful for my good buddy John Veazey and his friendship. I am glad that he is enjoying my thoughtful gift from Draft Weekend and his Joe Mixon Jersey. I am so overjoyed that Joe Mixon is finally fulfilling his never ending promise as a top RB. Finally. So thankful.

  • I am thankful for Billy for ending this ridiculous 7 game winning streak that Jerry's Belt...... errr Andy's Face Shield is on. We all know that Umphlett has a little pep in his step these days. Is it possible that maybe the Face Shield is growing on him? Could we possibly be seeing the end of Jerry's Belt Buckle in front of our very eyes? I think one thing we can agree on, this apparently does seem to be a year that Umphlett is "good". He is currently averaging 102.3 points and its the first time he has averaged over 100 points since 2018. In fact, he has only average over 100 points 3 times in his career, and each time in the past he has averaged over 100 points for the season he has won the Championship. Can he make it 3 for 3?

  • I am thankful for Jon Overbay's never ending ability to select diamonds in the rough on Draft Weekend. No other player in this league has consistently drafted players in the last four rounds as Overbay has. And I think he has done it again with Elijah Moore.

  • I am thankful for Chidobe Pope, a 1.5 star WR who played on my team for the first 2.5 seasons of Retro Bowl. Chidobe was a true professional who created the right culture in the locker room and all he wanted to do was win. He was a true game breaker and in his final season before retirement, Chidobe was unstoppable. He had 2,774 Receiving Yards and 40 receiving TDs earning the MVP of the Retro Bowl and his first and only Championship. At 34 he was ready to retire and move onto his next step in life owning a series of Pep Boys franchises across the Houston Metro Area. Thank you for your Leadership Chidobe. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • I am thankful for Jeff Smith. No not that Jeff Smith. The Jeff Smith. Jeff will not give up his dream and I hope to see him rostered by the Kayak Pirates very soon again.

  • I am thankful for Netflix for picking up one of the greatest series on TV today, Cobra Kai. If you haven't watched it, you have no idea what you are missing. You need to get with the times people and watch Cobra Kai. It's amazing.

  • I am thankful that "Playoffsville" is not a real place and that it really isn't "saved" by KRABS. I am thankful that KRABS can't win this year so we won't have to go through the pain of listening to him try to be The Commish next August.

  • I am thankful that Brent has 3 Running Backs on the New Orleans Saints. That is really called handcuffing your handcuffs and is a sound time tested Fantasy Strategy. And it's going to pay off tonight with 2 of the 3 inactive. Although curiously he left Inactive Ceedee Lamb in his lineup. Is someone trying to win Manager of the Weak?!?!?!?

  • I am thankful for Dirty Mike's passion. It is clear he is committed to winning. But does he really think he is ever going to be a consistent winner in this league if he is primary source and discussion mate is ...... KRABS?!?!? Have you ever heard of the phrase "You are who you surround yourself with"?

  • I am thankful that Aaron Hinton DIDN'T actually blow up his house. Man that is a total relief.

  • I am thankful for the one, the only, YOUR #1 RB Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan and I had multiple discussions this summer about our hopes and dreams and despite a rocky start and multiple head winds I am overjoyed to be on this journey with Jonathan. Jonathan you really are one of the greats and I am so excited for everything you have accomplished but more importantly everything you will accomplish. You are the man buddy. XOXO.

Before we get to the awards let's check out this week's episode of Gridiron Heights! I have no idea what the jokes are but hey, we can't get them all.

Let's Get to the Awards...

Manager of the Weak

Mayyyyybbbbeeee our coronation of Patrick last week was a little too soon. Because he looked well, bad again. I have no idea that is going on, but if Patrick Mahomes is going to be normal then it is a significant uphill climb for the Kayak Pirates to make noise this year. We are not projecting a holly jolly Christmas this year in the land of Abingdon. May want to book a weekend retreat at the Hamp Inn.

Move of the Week

There was much fan fare about the return of Cam Newton to the Panthers, but when I saw Dirty Mike pickup Cam I sort of chuckled. On the surface that seemed like a silly move considering the context. Then when I double clicked I came to the conclusion, hmmmm this may actually work out. Newton was facing the easily beatable Washington Redskins defense and after his 2 TD, 8 touch game in Arizona maybe he actually was back. And well the Panthers didn't win (sigh) but Cam wasn't only serviceable, he was great. Cam had 3 TDs and 28 Fantasy Points and looked like his MVP self again for most of the day. Is it possible that we could see Cam making more starts for Dirty Mike because Stafford isn't exactly trending in the right direction. A saavy move by Dirty Mike that led to a nail biter victory in Week 11.

MVP

Austin Ekeler, Jonathan Taylor, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Joe Mixon

Some true MVP performances in Week 11, but none were bigger than Austin Ekeler dropping 4 TDs in a massive SNF performance. Ekeler showed off his diverse skill set running for 2 TDs and catching 2 more in a huge victory over Umphlett and his face shield to end his 7 game win streak. Billy now finds himself only 1 game out of the last playoff spot and with McCaffery healthy anything is possible moving forward. Congrats to Austin for winning the Week 11 MVP!

Manager of the Week

Dirty Mike had a huge victory propelling him to first place in the league and he wanted to make sure EVERYONE knew. The New England defense totally dominated the Falcons last Thursday night and with Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs being dominating WR1s and whatever GB RB is healthy scoring points could this be the year for Brent C? Let's not forget the KRABS effect. Congrats to Brent C and Dirty Mike for winning the Week 11 Manager of the Week!

Well that's all I got.

It's Rivalry Week People.

Until Week 13...
