MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Two weeks in a row a Wednesday drop of the Notes. Is there a better Christmas Present? After Baby Jesus of course.

And since we are in the Christmas spirit I wanted to share this heartwarming video from @StoolPresidente. Say what you want about him, but I mean, this video is pretty cool:

Meanwhile here is a live look on Christmas of me:

Ok enough of the flibber flabber. Let's get to Fantasy Football.

Congrats to Brent Woodcox and Jeff Smith for making the Fantasy Bowl. This is a great accomplishment and extremely difficult to do. And just wait until you check out the history between these two franchises.

It is time, queue the music, for Fantasy Bowl XXIV!

#1 Kayak Pirates

  • 4th Fantasy Bowl Appearance(1-2)

  • Last Appearance: 2023 (70-77)

  • Other Appearances:

    • 2020: L (83-108)

    • 2013: W 100 - 77)

2024 was the year of the Running Back and Jeff has gotten to the Fantasy Bowl on the backs of Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs. And while both of them scored in double digits in Week 16, the week was won based on the performance of Jared Goff. With his 29 point outing in Week 16 he has now scored 25+ points in three straight weeks and now has scored a total of 101 points in his last three matchups. And even more shockingly his performance last week was on the road and OUTDOORS! He is now up to 7th overall in Fantasy Points for QBs and this is clearly the best season Goff has ever had. And he is turning it on at just the right time. Can the 49ers do enough to get into another shootout with the Lions on MNF?

The wide receiver room for this team has been a struggle all year. And while the Kayak Pirates have been able to hit on some impressive performances occasionally (think Jennings in Week 3) this unit has lacked consistency all year. I can't imagine that there is alot of confidence in these starters for Week 17 and I find it interesting there were a number of WR free agent pickups on Christmas morning.

One player that has been Mr Consistency is George Kittle. Kittle has been the #1 TE in Fantasy all year and has 9 double digit scoring outputs. With a potential shootout on tap for Monday Night, could he have his biggest game of the year? And if he does will Jeff film himself sweeping the Garage again?

#3 black is for sunday

  • 2nd Fantasy Bowl Appearance (0-1)

  • Last Appearance: 2012 vs. The Commish (109 - 134 Loss)

I thought this play from Joe Burrow symbolized Brent's 2024 season. It has been one of true adversity.

Brent started the season 1-5 and well, things were bleak. From there he turned it on and won 7 in a row (with his only loss to yours truly) and 8 of the last 9. Who has been the center of this winning streak? Two players: Joe Burrow and Bijan Robinson. Both of these players have been rocks and Bijan Robinson has been one of the most valuable first round picks all season. Robinson has scored 13+ Fantasy Points in 9 of his last 10 matchups and has become the focal point of the Falcons offense in 2024. All I know is that Brent better work the "Dirty Bird" into his Champion's address if he wins it all in 2024.

On the negative side, Cooper Kupp has been struggling recently with a combined total of 2 points over his last two games. He has a home game against the Cardinals in Week 17 and he is too talented to be this bad. But with DK Metcalf on the bench it will be interesting to see how patient Brent is in this absolute must win matchup.

But this matchup could come down a mid season free agent pickup in Bucky Irving. Joe Mixon was the big mid season trade acquisition, but with his late season struggles he has hit the bench and in enters rookie wonderkid Bucky Irving. Against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have given up the most Fantasy Points to Running Backs all year (by 4 points on average) and have ceded 17 double digit scoring outputs. Irving has scored double digit points in five of his last six games and the only time he didn't he was inured. I am going to call it now: Bucky Irving will decide Fantasy Bowl XXIV.

I am just going to leave this here. This is the passion that abounds in Fantasy Bowl XXIV. Brent Woodcox is playing to overcome 22 years of pain.

Is 2024 finally the year?

I mean keep your head up. At least it isn't 25 years right?

Who Will Win Fantasy Bowl XXIV?

  • Kayak Pirates

  • black is for sunday

Before we get to this week’s awards, check out this week’s episode of Gridiron Heights.

Episode 15:

Manager of the Weak

ree

So this was supposed to be a different column. The story was supposed to turn out differently. I mean I started two players from the NY Jets. In a game with a 46.5 over under (4th highest). And there ended up only being two touchdowns scored in the game. After Rodgers had a passing touchdown on the first drive of the game (99 yards). While I was in RODGERS THEATER. I mean. Sigh.

I mean seriously. I thought I had cracked the DiVinci Code. I was so confident.

In retrospect it feels a little foolish. I was talking to my Barber yesterday (who is a huge NY Jets fan). He said I am an idiot.

So in summary, basically, I am a butterfly.

Honorable Mention to KRABS. I mean Josh Allen. What happened my man?

Speaking of Josh Allen, is this real?

Move of the Week

ree

I mean who had this on their bingo card. Starting the Atlanta Falcons defense in any week is well, crazy. And Brent did it two straight weeks. And they scored 20+ points both weeks. And won Move of the Week two consecutive weeks. I mean. The Atlanta Falcons Defense.

MVP

ree

Jared Goff and Joe Burrow

I am giving the Week 16 MVP to Joe Burrow. Because I mean he gives out cool Christmas presents. And it's Christmas!

Manager Of The Week

Brent scored more points, but I am going to give it to Jeff for pulling out the gutsy MNF victory. It got a little dicey for a second, but he won. Sigh.

Until Week 17…

-          The Commish

P.S. Did anyone else enjoy watching Jonathan Taylor go absolutely nuclear. The week after VZ was eliminated from the Playoffs?

P.S.S. If you are looking for something to watch over Christmas break:

  • Red One on Amazon Prime: I thought this would be terrible, but the kids liked it and I have to admit, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

  • Beast Games: Mr Beast is pretty crazy. And well this is the biggest thing he has done yet. Also on Amazon Prime Video

P.S.S.S Here is the AI Image of the Week.

Aaron Rodgers ruining Christmas. This image gets a big fat F. It is way too happy and exciting. I need more tears.
